Where to request the electronic card
There are three ways to request an electronic card, and therefore to subscribe to public transport :
1. Online , directly on the Atm website
2. In the ATM Points (through the Atm app it is possible to book your shift at the chosen ATM Point ), located in the mezzanines of the underground stations of:
- Duomo M1-M3 (Mon to Sat 7.45-20, Sun 10.15-13.15 and 14-17.30)
- Centrale M2-M3 (from Mon to Sat 7.45-20, Sun 10.15-13.15 and 14-17.30)
- Cadorna M1-M2 (Lun to Sat 7.45-20, Sun 10.15-13.15 and 14-17.30)
- Garibaldi M2-M5 (Mon to Sat 7.45-20)
- Loreto M1-M2 (from lunch on Saturday 7.45-20)
- Romolo M2 (from Mon to Sat 7.45-20)

3. In authorized resellers (bars, newsagents, tobacconists and stationeries)

To make an ATM subscription, you will need to have with you:
- a passport-size photo
- a valid identity document
- fiscal Code
How to renew the ATM card
The ATM card has a duration of four years, after which it is necessary to renew it with the methods seen in the previous chapter. To meet the Covid emergency situation, ATM has decided to automatically renew the cards for free until September 2021 .
Just bring the expiring card close to the totems present in all stations. After a few seconds the screen will confirm the renewal for another year.
Which ATM subscription to buy
There are different types of ATM subscriptions , designed to meet the needs of all citizens and those who work in Milan. According to the new tariff plan in force since 15 July 2019, subscriptions are now divided by zones, numbered from 1 to 9. Urban tariffs are defined as zones from Mi1 to Mi3. Following from Mi4 to Mi 9 the extra-urban areas, to which higher rates are applied according to the distance traveled. Here all the info on the prices of ordinary tickets by zone .
Urban season tickets (Mi1-Mi3)
- Weekly : € 17, valid from Monday to Sunday for an unlimited number of trips
- Monthly : € 39, valid for one calendar month for an unlimited number of trips
- Annual : € 330, valid for 12 consecutive calendar months for an unlimited number of trips
Long-distance travelcards
The formulas for traveling from areas Mi9 to Mi4 towards the center (Mi1-Mi3). The urban boundaries of the metro are as follows:
Line M2 : Cologno Nord, Cascina Burrona
The tariff for extra-urban passes is also valid on Trenord services based on the distance traveled. If, for a passenger with a season ticket, it is necessary to go on a one-time basis to areas excluded from their plan, zone additions are envisaged.

For students:
- day trips up to 27 years of age in the Mi1-Mi3 area: € 22
- evenings without age limits in the Mi1-Mi3 area : € 11. Valid from Monday to Friday from 17.00 to 20.30 and from 21.00 until the end of the service, on Saturdays from 13.00 to 20.00. Not valid on Sundays.

Subscriptions for seniors
It is a subscription formula valid for:
Residents of Milan over the age of 65
- Senior ‘Off Peak ‘ pass valid after 9.30 am until the end of the service and on holidays without time limits: € 16 monthly, € 170 annually
- Ordinary senior subscription: € 300 per year
Residents in the metropolitan area of Milan with more than 65 years
- Reduced over 65 pass with Isee between € 16,000 and € 28,000: € 22 per month, € 200 per year
- Free over 65 subscription with Isee less than € 16,000
Subscriptions over 65 without residence limits:
- Monthly : € 32.50
- Annual: € 300
Subscriptions have also been designed for further segments of the population:
- Annual pass for parents with 3 or more dependent children: € 165
- Monthly pass for minors in foster care: € 19
- Annual subscription for unemployed for at least 24 months: € 50
- Annual subscription for people with an ISEE threshold below € 6,000 : € 50
The subscription is recharged with an app
The world is moving towards digital, from payments to reservations and ATMs is no exception. The new version of the Atm Milano App allows passengers to renew all subscriptions (weekly, monthly, annual) by credit card or PayPal without having to go to ATM Points or vending machines.
Another function introduced in the update is that of the reminder : when the registered subscription is about to expire, a notification arrives to remind you to renew it. For the electronic card 45 days before, for the annual subscription both 30 days before and one week from the expiry, while for the monthly and weekly the alert will arrive respectively 6 and 4 days before.
How the Atm Milano app works
After registering on the Atm Milano App (if you have already registered in the reserved area on the atm.it site you can use the same credentials) just click on “Subscriptions” to access the new section. Once the electronic card has been saved, you can renew your travel document (weekly, monthly or yearly), decide the duration of validity and pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) or PayPal. Once the purchase has been completed, it will be necessary to activate the subscription to the totems present in all the underground stations (as is already the case for those who top up the season ticket from the ATM website) or to the Milan parking meters.
The renewed user experience of the App also allows you to choose and purchase a new type of subscription based on your mobility needs, selecting your rate immediately, also by consulting the map of the entire rate system.
